Air & Afforestation
Promoting cleaner air through afforestation and restoring green landscapes within villages.
Welcome to Hinduja Enterprises
Creating meaningful change through community development, environmental responsibility, access to essential resources and sustainable opportunities for rural communities.
The reference page describes how eighteen years of bringing clean energy to rural India, across farms, solar pumps and villages, helped reveal the connections between water, agriculture, health and energy.
It reports more than 1,40,000 solar systems across 7,500+ villages and explains that a village is an interconnected community in which essential resources influence one another.
AAJEEVAN, a name meaning “lifelong”, represents a commitment to long-term rural transformation rather than isolated interventions. Its approach brings different community needs together within a sustained development mission.
The reference page introduces AAJEEVAN as an integrated village-transformation initiative. It recognises that the well-being of a village depends on several connected priorities, including clean energy, water security, sustainable agriculture, environmental care and health.
The eight promises provide a framework for addressing these needs together, with the aim of supporting lasting progress in rural communities.
AAJEEVAN is presented here as the GK Energy reference programme, not as an existing Hinduja Enterprises programme.
The eight themes below follow the AAJEEVAN framework described on the reference page.
Promoting cleaner air through afforestation and restoring green landscapes within villages.
Strengthening sustainable agriculture, supporting better nutrition and advancing community health.
Conserving water resources and helping improve water security for households and communities.
Expanding access to dependable clean energy for homes, farms and rural livelihoods.
Restoring ecosystems, protecting biodiversity and supporting the renewal of natural landscapes.
Developing practical skills, supporting sustainable livelihoods and encouraging rural entrepreneurship.
Supporting vulnerable communities through focused assistance and inclusive development initiatives.
Connecting environmental responsibility with nutrition, well-being and essential community needs.
The reference page presents AAJEEVAN as a long-term mission that recognises the importance of time, trust and sustained community participation in achieving meaningful rural transformation.
Its approach begins with baseline studies, village consultations and community participation. These steps help identify local priorities and shape solutions around the needs of individual villages.
Rather than applying one standard model everywhere, the mission aims to build village-specific programmes that respond to local conditions and needs.
The reference page explains how the programme is planned, implemented and assessed through community participation and collaboration.
Baseline studies and consultations help identify the priorities, resources and requirements of individual villages.
Community participation and partnerships with relevant organisations support programme planning and implementation.
Programme design and impact assessment help evaluate outcomes and support lasting community development.
According to the reference page, AAJEEVAN is implemented independently by the Gopal Kabra Foundation. The foundation oversees programme design, execution, beneficiary selection and impact assessment, working with NGOs, technical institutions, hospitals and government agencies. GK Energy supports the initiative through CSR contributions under the oversight of its CSR Committee and Board, in accordance with the Companies Act, 2013.
The mission's stated long-term objective is to help build stronger, more resilient rural communities, reflecting the idea that the value of energy extends beyond the power delivered to the confidence and resilience it helps communities develop.
